2019 TOURISM NETWORKING FORUM
Author:
Date: 4 Nov 19

Ever imagined the whole tourism fraternity congregating together in one event and joined by suppliers of the industry? The Kenya Tourism Federation is bringing together members of the seven trade associations in the tourism industry to network, make friends, do business and make merry. The event dubbed The Tourism Networking Gala is scheduled to take place Friday, November 29th at the Trademark Hotel, Village market.

The day will have an array of activities kicking off with an exhibition, then a plenary session with all association heads sitting on the panel and thereafter an evening filled with pomp and dance.

The Exhibition starts from 1300hrs. Exhibitors will be drawn from the motor industry, banking, insurance, travel and hotels. Members are encouraged to take advantage of this exhibition since suppliers have tailor-made customized packages and prices for the tourism industry.

ASSOCIATIONS PLENARY SESSION

At 1500hrs, we have set-up a one of a kind forum where all the 7 associations namely, Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and caterers (KAHC), Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO), Ecotourism Kenya (EK), Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), Pubs, Entertainment Spots & Restaurants Association (PERAK), Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO) and Kenya Coast Tourism Association (KCTA) will be in a panel and members will engage them on tourism and stakeholder related matters.

‘We want the industry to ask questions. We want the industry to understand why there is an association that represents them, and what they should expect from the associations. We therefore will have a panel comprised of the chair or CEO of each of the 7 associations and they will discuss the role of each association and how members can fully utilize the benefits of being in the association.' explains Susan Ongalo, CEO, KTF.

The associations will engage the members on the set agenda for the year 2020. This 2 hour forum will be closed with a cocktail session which will give members and the suppliers a networking opportunity, before going in for the dinner.

NIGHT OF POMP AND GLAMOUR

Dinner will be served at 7.15pm, and is sure to be a warm and indulgent affair. Accompanying dinner will be a lively and insightful plenary session, under the theme "Sustainability is present and future". The discussions will outline facts and statistics underlying the call to members to embrace more environmentally friendly practices; not only for a market advantage but also to ensure a future for the industry in Kenya and preserve our rich heritage for posterity.
